The first I heard of Spanish vehicle manufacturer SEAT (pronounced say-at) was in the mid 90’s while watching screaming little Yellow Ibiza’s skidding around in a NZ WRC (World Rally Championship) event. Now SEAT have hit NZ shores and it looks like they’re here to stay, with the VW owned company opening a very impressive showroom here in Auckland.
A recent arrival of the new 'supermini' category is the Daewoo Matiz which has done well on the sales ladder in Europe prior to its appearance here. Although a product of Daewoo Korea the Matiz was designed and styled by ItalDesign Studios in Italy and displays the Italian influence of modern flair and chic looks.
Renault conceived the concept of Multi Purpose Vehicle way back in 1984 with the Espace, a model which still survives. The Scenic though, being based on the Megane saloon/hatch platform is more compact and is marketed by Renault as a "Multi Activity Car", implying that it can be adapted to a number of configurations and uses.
