How can you verify the mileage is correct on a car imported from Japan or Singapore? By looking for the AA Odometer Passed sticker on the front windscreen.
Together with our partner Japan Export Vehicle Inspection Center (JEVIC), Japan's largest odometer Certification Company, we conduct odometer inspections on second hand cars before they leave the port. We do this by:
- Removing and inspecting the odometer for any signs or evidence of tampering
- Examining all available service records to ensure they match the car's stated odometer reading
- Checking the car's history and comparing it to all other information about the car
- Checking the car's overall condition for signs of wear inconsistent with the odometer reading
And only when we're 100% satisfied, will we give the car the AA/JEVIC Odometer Passed stamp of approval.
So always look for the AA/JEVIC Odometer Passed Sticker and accompanying authorising certificate - your assurance of an accurate odometer reading.
How much does an AA Odometer check cost?
For cars already AA Odometer Inspected - it costs you nothing. We simply want to give you confidence in your imported vehicle purchase.
If you wish to arrange an AA Odometer Inspection the cost is $130 (including GST).
How do I find an AA Odometer checked car?
There are a number of used car dealers who stock AA Odometer Inspected vehicles. Take a look at the list of used car dealers now or call us toll free on 0800 636 638.
For cars that are not already AA Odometer Inspected we now have a mobile service available in Auckland, Hamilton and Tauranga*, or take the car to the AA Inspection Centre in Albany.
