The licensing process

STEP ONE

Learner licence

You're able to sit the learner licence test when you’re 16 years old. Make sure you’re ready for it by using our quiz.

 

STEP TWO

Restricted licence

The restricted driver licence test is a practical in-car driving test. It was made harder this year - you'll need about 120 hours of practice.

 

STEP THREE

Full licence

You take the full driver licence test after you’ve had your restricted for 18 months – cut it down to 12 with a Defensive Driving Course.
