Improve driver safety AND company profitability with eco-friendly AA Driver Training programmes for businesses. We offer risk analysis, skill control programmes, defensive driving courses for advanced drivers and advanced driving assessments.
With years of experience helping fleet drivers improve their safety on the road, we’ve identified recurrent factors in work place crashes. The Risk Analysis Programme is an online assessment tool to help you identify these in advance.
The assessment takes 10-15 minutes and includes approximately 50 questions covering the various aspects that can influence a driver's safety on the road. It pieces together a profile of each driver: their attitude toward the driving task, behaviours on the road, knowledge of New Zealand road law, work driving requirements, understanding of vehicle dynamics and estimates of driving capabilities.
Safer drivers develop their skills. They understand factors that influence driver behaviour and know how to cope in challenging situations. This refresher course has been designed specifically for experienced drivers. It’s a comprehensive and interactive 4 hour session.
The AA's Skill Control Programme is a 90 minute off-road coaching session that teaches a combination of car handling skills and crash avoidance techniques. It's important for drivers to respect car dynamics, understand how they work and identify the signs that could indicate something isn't right.
Each car handling session includes a group briefing (up to six participants per group) and one-to-one drive time with a specialised trainer. You can use your own car or one of our training vehicles. Participants must hold a restricted or full New Zealand driver licence to participate.
We can provide either a 60 or 90 minute driving assessment which is followed up with a full written report.
We’ll get the driver to negotiate their local driving environment in a usual work vehicle. It’ll expose any prevalent habits or patterns of risk which can compound under their usual and varied business pressures. They're required to actively identify hazards throughout which will indicate perception awareness of the driving environment as well as mirror and blind spot checking, gap selection and lane positioning.
