Off road car handling skills
Repeated calls for an off-road car handling skills course have spurred the launch of AA's new Skill Control Programme.
The Skill Control Programme is a 90 minute off-road coaching session with New Zealand's top female rally driver, Emma Gilmour - the AA's Champion for Driver Safety.
Each session includes:
- Group briefing (up to six participants per group)
- One-to-one drive time with Emma (option of own car or use of a training vehicle provided)
Whether you're new to driving or have many years of experience behind the wheel, you'll gain practical skills and tips on how to handle your car correctly.
The Skill Control Programme won't teach you how to become a rally driver, focussing instead on becoming 'one with the car'. "The programme is strongly based on crash avoidance techniques. It's important for drivers to respect their cars, understand how they work and identify the signs that could indicate something isn't right" says Emma.
How do I attend?
You must hold a restricted or full New Zealand Driver Licence to participate in the Skill Control Programme.
