What is the difference between a car registration and a car licence?

Car licensing is often incorrectly called registration. A car registration is where a new car is added to the Motor Vehicle Register and given registration plates. Car licensing is where you pay a fee to use your vehicle on public roads. This is the label that is displayed on your windscreen.

We've been appointed an authorised Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agent by Land Transport New Zealand.

How much does a car licence cost?

Pricing varies based on licensing requirements. Staff at our AA Centres and agencies will be happy to give you specific licensing fee information.
