Meet Grace

Grace Taylor is of English, Samoan and Japanese descent born and raised in South Auckland. Grace is a poet and performer who has been writing, teaching and producing for the last eight years. She has spearheaded the development and growth of the spoken word poetry movement in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Grace published her first collection of poetry Afakasi Speaks in 2013. In 2015 Grace was commissioned by Auckland Theatre Company to write and perform in her first poetry theatre show My Own Darling.
Grace received the second Auckland Mayoral Writer’s Grant for City Of Undone Darlings and was awarded the Creative New Zealand Emerging Pacific Artist Award in 2014. She is currently working on her second book Full Broken Bloom, which will debut in March 2017.
