Hi there,

I'm looking at buying a Mitsubishi L300 2008 van, and it looks like they don't have airbags (please correct me if I'm wrong!).
Is it possible, legal and worthwhile to get aftermarket airbags fitted to improve safety?

Hi there,
As this was designed as a commercial vehicle the requirement for frontal impact and airbags developed much later.
You may find that It would not be a very cost effective exercise to have airbags fitted, and the process would also need to be LVV certified before the modifications can be deemed legal. I don't think you can get aftermarket generic airbags. To have any chance, the complete dashboard, steering wheel, sensors, computer and wiring would need to be transferred from a later model Mitsubishi van with an airbag system (if any such exist). https://www.lvvta.org.nz/
