What is the repaid cost of a Nissan Primera 2004 Sedan 2L Gasket? AA found that is leaking but very minor leak. To change the whole thing how much will that cost? AA service centre couldn't give me a exact cost. But they told me it will be around $400 then after few days I asked the same store and told me $600. Why are they saying different price each time? When I went to my mechanic he told me Gasket cost less than $100 or $150 max. Rest Labour cost and total will be around no more than $250. AA seems very costly. What's the difference?

Rocker cover gaskets are the most common, and I agree that I would expect that the job would take no longer than 1-1.5 hours to replace 2 tops maybe if there are any issues with cleaning coils, or spark plug tubes (as oil often leaks down them too). You are welcome to obtain a few quotes for the job and ask them to itemise it so you can see what makes up the quoted figures. Some workshops will quote the bare minimum and advise of extras required during the job, some shops quote the extras right away as they know what is often encountered while doing such a job.
