Hi,

I am interested in buying a 2015 Ford Focus ST from a RMVT who specialises in repairing and selling Aussie stat write offs. This model was reportedly written off for mechanical failure (timing chain failure) and imported. They have replaced the engine with one that has done 6000km and report no other issues with it.

Other than viewing and test driving it myself, is there anything else you would recommend checking? Is an AA pre purchase inspection check sufficient?

Or would you advise against altogether?

Thanks

Kind regards

Hi there,
If it was just an engine that required replacement- it would be a strange thing to cause a vehicle to be written-off over. However this is not usually a big deal and easily remedied as they have done. But yes I recommend to have a Pre-purchase inspection to make sure you are well informed of the vehicle before you commit to purchase.

Thanks Cade, I was suspicious around the cause for write off too - is there any way to verify it?
