I've been trying to find a Mazda MPV, a non-turbo version, and there just isn't many of them, but there is a lot of the turbo versions. Particularly from approx 2009 onwards, non-turbo versions are much rarer. One Jap import dealer told me it was because the non-turbo variants had been banned for import. I'm not sure when this happened. Is anybody able to verify this? And why ?

Hi there,
Some of the main factors that prevent a vehicle being able to be imported to NZ would be if it didn't meet the current frontal impact and emissions standards, or was not equipped with Stability Control (which is the latest rule to be implemented) I am not aware of a specific rule banning the non-turbo Mazda specifically.

Ok, thanks for the reply. I guess that could mean that possibly only the turbo variants comply with the latest emission standards, as the frontal impact and stability control I assume would be the same.
