What cars do AA not recommend to buy between 2000 and 2010. Or another way of putting it, what cars do AA most often have call outs between those years. We are thinking to buy 1.8, 2lt, chain driven, petrol, auto or manual range.

Thank you

Hi there,
The answer is a little open ended, as any vehicle over 10 years old has technically passed its most useful and trouble free potential life. You might get a car of this age that has had a lot of servicing and repairs, cam belts, water pump, radiator oil leaks, coils, sparkplugs etc. Or you might get one that requires all this or soon after purchase. As a general observation we have found that European vehicles tend to require more maintenance as they age as opposed to Japanese manufactured vehicles. We would recommend buying the newest and safest vehicle your budget allows. https://rightcar.govt.nz/ucsr-safety-ratings
