Hi there, am planning to change my Accord and want to down size. I shortlisted a 2016 Mazda Axela 1.5 petrol AT and 2014 Honda Fit H1.5 petrol AT Hybrid. Both imported from Japan. Want to know which will be more reliable? And should I consider taking a mechanical warranty?

Please advise.

Thanks,

Hi Jishnu,
Both are popular choices, I have not heard anything negative about either vehicle. However Honda NZ didn't bring the Hybrid here till the latest generation of Jazz, and the Mazda 3 NZ new equivalent came here in 2-2.5ltr engines, so you may not find much information nor support from the manufacturer should anything go wrong.
As with any insurance Mechanical Breakdown is a personal decision- and one you may never need but if you did you might be glad you had it. Some vehicle types present more risk than others.
