Hi, we are looking to buy a car for our son. He is going to take driving lessons soon preferably on a manual transmission car.
When he will pass his restricted test, does he need his own car or will AA provide one?
Can you advise us about Tiptronic cars? Are they consider automatic transmission or manual transmission?
Cheers

Hi there,
Tiptronic is an alternative method of being in control of an automatic transmission gear shift and so is still classed automatic.
You can book your restricted test at the AA but the AA doesn't take you through the actual driving test for your restricted.

If you had lessons in an AA Driving School car, you can request to use this for your restricted license test. It will be at the driving instructor's discretion and you will need to discuss the price with them.
