Hi Guys,

I'm looking at getting one. Currently have a 3L Gita Altezza and a Corolla which we use as a daily driver. Starting next month I'm doing more motorway driving around Auckland and I'm thinking of selling the Gita and buying a Mark X. Any known issues with this car? My only concern is that it has a dual injection engine with direct injection as well as port injection. I know the early D4 engines had some issues with rough running and idle surge- at this stage have these issues been sorted out?

Early D4 engines had a poor reputation but things do evolve and we don't believe that the newer D4 systems suffer from the problems of the past. Direct injection is commonly used these days and almost every car manufacturer uses it due to the increased pressure to reduce exhaust emissions. The Toyota 86 uses a similar system to the Mark X (D4S - direct and port injection) and we are yet to hear of any problems.

For an older vehicle (Mark X) it's best to avoid high mileage that would increase the risks of failure and ensure you use high-octane fuel at all times. Also, check whether the vehicle has a good maintenance record.

To date, we are not aware of any problems on the Mark X.
