I'm looking for a second hand car and liked Demio a lot, my original budget was around $5000 and I tend to buy 2006 model, I did found some fresh import one around the price but the condition either not well or it didn't went well after the pre-purchase inspection or just looks so suspicious(low mileage around just 40k).
There are indeed quite a lot on market still but lots with higher price around $6000-7000

So I started wondering is it realistic to buy a 2006 model around $5000 from dealer as fresh import?
Also is 2006 model the most cost-effective model and what are differences between 2006,2005,2004 and 2003. I can see on the market those models have no that big price differences.

Main idea is we want a fuel-efficient one can last us around 5 years without big trouble.

If I want stick with Demio second generation around $5000 budget, what would be the best option for me?

Hi there,
It looks like the Demio had the same shape from 2002 and a facelift version from 05-07.
I would just shop around and find the best one possible. usually with the lowest km's.
You may have to drop a few years and try an 04/05 model.

Thank you Cade, Would there be big difference between fresh import and those already on the road? I mean talking about the similar condition.

Also could you please share me an estimate about how much more the budget would be if I want to stick with 06 model?

Thanks a lot for your help

Hi there,
There would be no difference, unless the car is NZ new then that would be preferred over
an import.
A fresh or older import would make no difference, maybe you would have some service/repair history if the car has been here awhile.
You would be looking at 1-2k extra for a good condition 06 model.
