Hi. A car I was looking at buying is a 1999 4wd Toyota Carib 2L manuel. I want it for everyday use and also go snowboarding sometimes, so understand 4wds cost more to run and for maintenance etc. However, I cant seem to find out about the fuel economy for this car. Can you help? Are these thirsty? Any other things I should know? Is this a good choice, or too old and not good on fuel? Thanks.

Hi there,
As this car is an import, there are no specs available and I can't even see a 2ltr manual listed in the system as a vehicle we see here, they seem to be 1.6 or 1.8ltr. Toyota build pretty good cars, things to keep in mind is maintenance for a 20 year old vehicle- as in what has been replaced and what is coming up due for replacement. 4WD does not usually create much more by way of servicing other than a few extra CV boots and a litre or so of rear diff oil.
