There is no way in hell I’ll let Mazda touch my car after their bullshit quote. My local mechanic did it and at the moment it’s running fine (1200 km later), so fingers crossed. Apparently the filter was filthy. However I actually think it would be worth you going to a diesel specialist. I don’t know how old your car is and how many km you’ve done, but definitely get a second (or in my case third) opinion. Whatever you do, ignoring a red light seems to be asking for trouble.

Hi All,
Can I please know what models/mfg years of these problematic cars. I was looking to buy a diesel, now I'm not very sure. Thank you very much in advance.

Matakanajo

Sure! Mazda CX-5 2014
The advice I’ve been given is don’t buy a diesel unless you are religious about servicing (at least every 10000k) or if you are only going to use it in the city. And probably best to use a diesel specialist for servicing.

Hi, See below I found this safety recall on https://www.vehiclerecallsafety.nzta.govt.nz/

However Mazda NZ won't honor it for imported cars.

MAZDA MAZDA3, MAZDA6, CX-5 Model years 2012-2018
Recalled:
1 Nov 2019

Statement:
There is the possibility that on a limited number of vehicles, the Engine Fuel Injector Seal may leak resulting in carbon deposits accumulating in the engine. As a result, your vehicle could experience the following: a gradual drop of engine performance, multiple warning lights displayed in the driver’s instrument cluster, a gradual increase in vehicle stopping distance or mechanical damage to the engine, resulting in stall with no re-start.

Instructions:
Can you please enter your details on our dedicated campaign website, www.MazdaCampaignCentre.co.nz? Your local Mazda Dealer will contact you within two working days of receiving your details and arrange a suitable time to conduct the recall repair.

Hi Webmite, I know it was 6 months ago but did you get anywhere with Mazda NZ regarding the CX5 diesel problems? I have an imported 2012 CX5 diesel (bought last October) that now has a large build up of carbon in the sump. The NZ recall (16/03/20) covers the issue but as an import they won't touch it. I've already had to replace the turbocharger 2 months ago.

Has anyone had a solution to this? My 2012 Mazda CX-5 is starting to show all the signs of the recall damage but it’s a Japanese import so not sure if anyone has had any success getting repairs done?
