Hi. We will soon need two new 215/45/18 tyres for our 2010 Mistubishi Lancer VRX hatch. We use this to commute in traffic 3 days a week and for a once a month trip from Wellington to Palmerston North. Safety is our #1 priority for tyres (braking, steering, wet roads and dry) with noise control #2. We have had wildy different recommedations from local tyre stores so would really appreciate some advice. Thanks

Hi there,
When choosing tyres there are many brands and options within the brand from base to high performance. It's best to find a brand you like and then see what range they have within the budget you are willing to pay. With tyres you generally get what you pay for. Bridgestone generally have a great range and are a good company to deal with. They have entry level tyres called Dayton, and then Supercat. However for this size tyre in Bridgestone lends itself to a more performance option called Potenza and Potenza Adrenalin and seem to be priced low to mid three hundreds (looking at an older price sheet)
NZ Consumer has a few tyre tests and comparisons available (some areas are for members). https://www.consumer.org.nz/products/car-tyres/guide
