My son's car failed its warrant as the high level stop light fitted in the spoiler is not working. We have been unable to locate a replacement unit (as advised to get by mechanic) in NZ. It's a standard Toyota Caldina. To get a warrant, can we install a generic working high level stop light to the inside of the back window (as long as it is fully visible) to get a warrant.

Hi yes you may fit a generic high stop light in the rear window to pass your WoF, this should allow the vehicle to meet the in-service requirements.
