Can you please advise what total kilometres one should expect to get from tyres on a new caravan.

The caravan is 6 meters long on one axle and has a gross maximum weight of 15,00kgs. Also assume it would be operating at the maximum weight most of the time.

The tyre size is 205/65/R15, they have been maintained at the recommended pressures and rotated on a regular basis.

Caravans in general are not used on a regular basis, most owners use them at holiday times so the extreme would be around 4 times per year. The average distance travelled is also an unknown but I suspect around 1,500km per trip would also be extreme.

Many caravan tyres suffer from general deterioration rather than tyre depth wear from my experience.

The important things to remember however to try and achieve the best life span are;

Tyres should have a commercial rating (8ply)
Pressures should be (in your case) around 50psi when towing
Avoid overheating of the tyres through overloading the van
Keep the tyres dry and away from the elements when the caravan is not being used
Avoid flat spotting of the tyres by blocking the caravan or overinflating the tyres when not in use
Working on the above I would estimate a tyre life of around 5 years or 20,000kms would be acceptable.

Rotating the tyres in my opinion would not increase the tyre life.
