I'm in the UK and I called the local AA for help with changing a flat tyre.

They took my NZ AA number and came and did the job politely and billed me £96.

I phoned up to complain and they said no reciprocal agreement exists.

Is this right? I could have joined UK AA on the spot for less than half of this.

Can you advise.

Sorry you had to learn of this the hard way.

AA United Kingdom no longer provides free reciprocal emergency road services.

If you call for roadside assistance, you'll need to pay a fixed call out fee (payable by credit card).

If a garage is called, you'll also need to pay this fee.
