Hi There

I have a 2008 Nissan X-Trail and have always used 95 (or occasionally 98). I have no complaints about performance etc but I was told to use 95 and up for efficient fuel consumption and performance. Is this accurate? From a cost perspective it is cheaper to use 91 but not sure if my vehicle will still perform well on 91. Can you please advise?

Cheers
Rachel

Hi Rachel,
Our specs show the 2.5 NZ new X-trail as using 91 octane fuel, so you could make the switch and see. I can't see any specs for Japanese imports. But if the car does seem a but more sluggish than normal with 91, then maybe switch back. For general non-turbo vehicles sometimes the only noticeable difference is the price.

thank you! I will try switching and see how the vehicle performs.

Hi there,
The 2ltr was an import and so no fuel information is available, but the NZ new 2.5 is listed as using 91.
