Hi there, I have an 2009. Mazda demio automatic just done 120K and seems the fuel tank has a bit suspicious. I searched the spec saying the fuel tank have 45L capacity. Which only around 30 in my car. I have checked by use virtually all the fuels, drive around 20k after light flashing. Just wondering should I replace the tank and how much roughly you reckon? And the fuel economy seems around. From 6.8-7.3 /100ks per mix urban driving. Thanks for your opinion!

Hi there,
My specs show the 2009 Demio having a 41L tank, which would mean the max you could possibly fit in when the fuel light is on would be around 35L. I would see no real requirement to replace the tank unless it was visibly damaged or leaking.

Thanks for that. The reason I’m worrying because I used to own a 2006 demio and the previous model has way more fuel capacity compared to the newer one. Is fuel tank maybe modified?

Hi there,
It might be that the new engines are more fuel efficient and don't require the tank capacity to be as large as the previous model.
