Our neighbour bought a large camper van (8m+ in length) and parked it outside his property.

The camper van sits higher than our driveway, which means we cannot see through the windows to check for oncoming vehicles on the road. The length of the van also completely blocked our visibility to oncoming vehicles coming from the far side of the road.

Basically, we cannot see oncoming vehicles when coming out of our driveway, until our car is half way in the live lane.

Is it legal for large (8m+ in length) camper vans to park in urban, residential streets, and block visibility to neighbouring driveways even if it is at least 1m away from the entrance?

Hi there,
We can't see any rules that prohibit a heavy vehicle from parking on a public roadway even if it restricts vision (my driveway has the same problem). However, at night it must display a red lamp from the rear corner nearest the road centre. http://www.nzta.govt.nz/resources/roadcode/heavy-vehicle-road-code/about-driving/how-to-park-safely/
