The rear bumper on my car has a couple of reflectors built in. One of them was cracked and half had fallen off. It also has other rear reflectors as part of the rear lights. It passed a WOF a year ago, but it failed the recent WOF because of the broken reflector. Which garage was correct?

The below is taken from the Vehicle Inspection Requirements Manual (WoF inspectors bible).

Reasons for rejection:

Condition

A mandatory reflector’s ability to reflect light is affected by excessive:
a) fading, or
b) scratching or other damage.

Based on the above its hard to be critical of the rejection.
