Petrol and diesel prices as at 18 January 2019
Another 2 cent price increase across all fuels on 18 January, partly due to further rises to commodity prices (particularly on diesel), but also with the fuel companies partly recovering previous cost increases (although margins still remain below average).

Petrol and diesel prices as at 14 January
The first price increase in over 3 months came on 14 January, with all fuels up 2 cents per litre (cpl), following increases in commodity prices early in the new year (due to a reduction in oil production). Since the last price cut in very late December, the landed cost of petrol has risen 6cpl, and diesel nearly 8cpl, even allowing for the stronger NZ dollar. Consequently, with a 2cpl pump price rise, fuel company margins have fallen, so more price rises could be expected.
