Petrol prices rose 16c in response to the sharp rise in oil prices at the end of February, matching the July 2008 record of $2.19.
AA PetrolWatch calculates the 14% rise in oil price equated to exactly 16 cents per litre on petrol and 20 cents per litre on diesel due to the latters higher commodity price, so the net increase of 27cpl on retail diesel prices is difficult to justify, perhaps explaining why diesel fell slightly on 1 April.
Fuel | Price change | Cost per litre |
Petrol (91 Octane) | 16 cent increase | $2.19 |
Diesel | 27 cent increase | $1.70 |
