Petrol and diesel prices as at 13 October 2020

National fuel prices rose 2 cents per litre (cpl) on 13 October, although there was not much movement in commodity prices (the landed cost of petrol falling slightly, whereas diesel rose). The price increase looks more like recovering from the unexpected/unexplained drop in margins from the week before.

Petrol and diesel prices as at 8 October 2020

Fuel prices fell twice during the first week of October, initially 4 cents per litre (cpl) on Monday, and then another 1cpl for petrol on 8 October, while diesel fell 2cpl. This is despite the fact there has been no reduction in the landed cost of fuel (in fact the diesel landed cost rose 1cpl). While the refining cost of petrol fell slightly, this was offset by an increase in the crude oil price. Overall, with the pump price reduction, margins on both fuels have fallen by around 4cpl.
