  • Does my premium stay the same each year or go up?

    Your premium increases each year based on your age, gender, smoker status, and your amount of cover. You’ll receive a statement every year updating you about your adjusted premium.

  • What happens if you opt out after 10 years?

    Cancer Care is not an investment policy so there is no surrender value and no cash back if you decide to cancel your policy.

  • If I cancel can I get my money back if I paid in advance?

    Yes, we will refund a proportion of the premium, depending the date of cancellation. For example, if you pay an annual premium in January and you cancel in June, we’ll refund your premiums from June until December.

  • Is there a “cooling off period” during which I can cancel and get my money back?

    Yes, there is a 30-day, no-obligation review period. If the product is not what you expected or you change your mind we'll cancel your policy and refund any premiums paid.

  • Can I make my child my beneficiary?

    Yes. We can send you a nominated beneficiary form to fill out with your beneficiary’s details. Their details will be loaded up with your policy and any payouts will then be made to them.

  • What do I need to do before I can start driving?

    Before you start driving in New Zealand you must obtain a learner licence. In order to obtain your learner licence, you must pass a theory test based on the New Zealand Rode Code. You can sit your learner licence test at an AA Centre. For more information about obtaining your licence please visit the NZTA website.

  • Do you provide training for Heavy Vehicle Licences/trucks/buses?

    The AA offers training for Class 1 Licences (car). Please contact the NZ Transport Agency if you are looking for information about Heavy Vehicle Licences.

  • Can I use the instructor’s vehicle for my test?

    You can discuss this with the instructor. Provided their car is available and you have taken lessons with them previously so they can assess your driving.

  • What if I’ve already booked my test?

    Our instructors will try to fit you in for a lesson before your test, but it depends on how close to the test date you have submitted a booking. We would recommend booking at least a couple of weeks in advance to ensure that you can have a lesson before your test.
