Kakapo Lodge Backpackers, Hanmer Springs YHA is a two-storey, purpose-built backpackers lodge with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We are located 200m (a 2-minute walk) from the thermal reserve and the village centre.Enjoy the summer sunshine outside up on the sunny decks or read a good book down in the peaceful garden. Make the most of the evening sun and do all your cooking outside on the BBQs provided.Winter is warm at Kakapo Lodge, with a log fire and underfloor heating as well as extra duvets and blankets on request. On those cold nights, cook up a storm in our large communal kitchen and dining room.We have a range of DVDs for hire, which can be watched upstairs in the lounge. Or you can grab a book from our book exchange to read during your stay. WiFi is available throughout the hostel.There is a daily shuttle available from Christchurch to Hanmer Springs that will drop you at our door. The same shuttle runs between Hanmer and Kaikoura (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)). If you would like us to organise transport for your stay please give us a call or e-mail us and we can take care of this for you.
