Hi I have a silver/grey coloured car and I can never remove some of the road film with a standard car wash. It is mainly in the lower half of the doors.
Should I get a "cut and polish" professional clean or can it be done easily by a non-professional?

It should be possible for you to clean the road film off the car yourself. A product I recommend which cleans off tar and grime is a clay bar. This is sold by car detailing brands like Meguiars or Mothers and should be available at any Repco or Supercheap Auto outlet. It costs around $35. In comes in a box with a spray-on polish, the first step being to wet the clay bar (and car) and rub on the paint to remove the grime. When the bar is dirty on one side, fold in half and continue and repeat the process until you've removed all the grime (keep the clay wet). You'll know its worked when the paint feels smooth to touch. The clay bar will also remove stuck-on grime from windows. Then wash the car with detergent and apply the polish if you wish.

Many thanks for the prompt response. I'll give it a go.

Ive got a grey coloured 2007 Mazda 6 Sedan GSX 2.3L with a few detailing type issues Id appreciate your advice about:
- The car body paint work and the windows have water mark spots all over the place.
- Theres also a few white paint graze marks on the corner fender areas.
- Water type marks on front seat fabric

Id like to remove these and then bring the car up to a nice clean shiny finish. Could you please advise what products/equipment Ill need and what I need to do.

I would suggest you pay a visit to a local valet company in your area.

Most of these guys carry out valets for used car dealers and have had experience in cleaning up all sorts of interior and exterior problems and can recommend which products to use.
