I've heard a lot of positive praise for the Navman and would like to own a model. Where would be the best place to put the Navman MY80T in my 2002 Accord to benefit me as the solitary driver occupant? That is, is it helpful to view the screen whilst driving or is it sufficient ( and maybe, safer) to rely on the spoken instructions to ensure that I get to my destination?

The major car navigation brands have been working nonstop to develop more intuitive car navigation units.

A car is surrounded by metal, so placing the unit on the windscreen of the car on the mount provides the best performance. Sometimes the signal can be affected by bouncing off tall city buildings, or shadows of hills and mountains.

The key is to enter your destination before you start driving. Look for a device that ‘speaks’ the street names in the instructions and you will quickly find that you are able to rely on what you hear and will only need to glance at the display for confirmation from time to time.

If you buy a quality branded product you will quickly learn to trust its instructions and also that they are very forgiving, so that if you miss a turn, it will patiently guide you to the next safe option to return you back on your path. Driving with a map book and looking for street signs as well as managing the vehicle and traffic is probably more stressful.
