Any idea of the max weight I can tow with my 1976 Cortina 2000. Thanks.

There are a number of variables that need to be considered with a vehicles of this age in regards to towing such as body condition, brake performance and the towbar itself.

As an educated guess, we would say around 500kg (with both a braked or un-braked load) as the towing capacity for this vehicle.
