I have just purchased a 2012 Mazda BT50. Its a great vehicle but being a big diesel and it can be a little sluggish at times. I travel approximately 25000km per year and was thinking of getting a Diesel Chip for it.

Would this increase fuel economy?
Would this increase my Tourque and power?
All in all, is it worth it, and would it void my Warranty.

I'm surprised that you find the BT-50 sluggish. With 147kW of power and 470Nm of torque, we have found it to be one of the very best in class.
Personally, I wouldn't tamper with the factory set-up. We hear claims from after-market chipping/mapping companies that they can increase the power and improve the fuel consumption. Perhaps they can, however, manufacturers spend millions on R&D and our view is that if these software changes improved how an engine runs, why don't the manufacturers load them at the factory?
Unless it's something that is sanctioned by the manufacturer, it will undoubtedly impact of the driveline (ie; engine, transmission etc) and engine management system (ECU and other electronic components) warranty.
If you want a formal answer, you could ask Mazda, but I think I know what their answer will be.

Only sluggish at times. Nothing major. We all want more power :) This is my first diesel vehicle.

I agree, if the factory doesn't load these settings then why tamper with it I guess. It must have an effect on something somewhere along the line.

I shall leave well enough alone. Many thanks.
