Hey there,

do I have to do a WOF when I mount a window 35% tint on my car? Or will it just be contested the next time I have to do a WOF?

thanks in advance,
Dominik

If the overall Visible Light Transmittance (VLT) of a front side window is less than 35%, or a windscreen is less than 70%, then it is a WOF failure.

You don't need to get a WOF done due to fitment of window tint but it needs to meet the legal requirements. When the next WOF is due the vehicle could fail the WOF if the tint is too dark.

Note: Visible light transmittance (VLT) is the proportion of visible light that passes through glazing, measured perpendicular to the glazing. Overall VLT is the VLT of the glazing together with any overlays.

Thank you Donavan for your detailed answer!
Just one more question. I could not find any specifications of tints ... I read that the VLT of tints (foils) are dimmensioned in a way that the result (VLT of window + tint) is in sum i.e. a VLT of 35%.
To make a long story short, is it possible to mount a 35% VLT on a AS2 window?

PS: sry about the halting english, I'm not a native speaker :)

The AS2 is an indicator that there is possibly a light tint in the glass and to measure how much it will equate to you need to use a light meter. I suggest that you take your vehicle to a window tint shop that have the equipment to determine how much tint you can apply to the glass to keep it legal.
