our car has a charger which seems for lighter charging..
we want to get an adapter/converter to connect a usb in our car so we can play music from the usb stick.
Is there any such thing, if so by what name should we look for it?

Some car stereos are equipped with usb connections, or usb capable.
The only devise that plugs into your lighter socket are usb charging plugs. So you can charge your phone/devise, with a usb cable.
However there are some bluetooth options or radio frequency adapters to get music to stream from your devise to the car stereo.
Basically it all depends on car/stereo/divise type on what options you have.
