We have a Toyota Prado with a braked towing weight limit of 2500kg's.
We are looking at a Caravan with Tare 2860, Tow Ball weight 180, GVM 3200, and ATM 3380. The NZ Land Transport website seems very muddly on towing limits, and has no clear cut rules. Can we tow this Caravan legally if we buy it?

Land transport provde a safe towing guideline with regard to the vehicles tow rating." Although the law does not require these tow ratings to be followed, the NZ Transport Agency recommends that they be taken into account"(from the land transport site). Basically it is recommended not to tow a weight any more than 3/4 the weight of the towing vehicle. Or excess of the manufactures braked towing weight rating.
