Hi
We are looking for a small car for our teenagers to learn to drive. Our budget is $10k and safety features are important to us as is leg room (due to height of father and son, both over 6 foot)
Do either of these cars have frequently reported faults, and if you had to pick the more reliable which would it be?
I have noticed the recommendation of choosing a Honda Fit, but have also read about the issue of CVT transmission, so presume it is best to stay away from a fit.
Your advice would be very helpful.
Cheers

Hi there,
The Mazda is currently the most popular of the two, depending on the model both have a 5-star ACAP safety rating. Neither have known issues that I can think of, it would be a case of personal preference in the details.

Thanks!
Any chance you happen to know the leg room for a Mazda 2?
My husband has been having trouble with the leg room behind the steering wheel for Ford Fiesta, Nissan Note, Suzuki Swift, Toyota Vitz. It really has narrowed the choice of vehicles.

Cheers!

Hi, I'm almost 6ft and didn't think it too much of a problem as a driver because I could lower the seat height and move it back. The passengers seat in some model variants don't have the same adjustment and feels like my head is close to the roof in some cars.
There is not usually any spec measurements on legroom.
