I am in the market for a “bigger type” vehicle with good boot space. Strong enough to handle a full boot load, 2 kids, and tow a small trailer with all the gear for camping. Most 7/8 seater type vehicles seem to fall into this category but I am open to any other suggestions. I am looking at buying a 2005 or newer model and budgeting around 10-13K. I have done a bit of research and narrowed it down to the following options:

PS: - All research based on 2005 models.

1.   Mazda Premacy – 2L – Auto
2.   Toyota Wish – 2L – Auto
3.   Honda Odyssey – 2.4L – Auto
4.   Mitsubishi – Chariot/Grandis – 2.4 Auto
5.   Toyota Ipsum – 2.4 Auto

Can you please let me know your thoughts on the above options in terms of:

1.   Practicality for my needs
2.   Reliability and/or any known general mechanical issues. (Very Important!)
3.   Safety

Your assistance in this is greatly appreciated.

The Mazda Premacy, Toyota Wish or Toyota Ipsum have good reputations and offer a good amount of space for your needs. The second row middle seat is normally very small and has a lap strap seat belt though (seen this on the Premacy) and the third row seats are good for small kids.

Stay away from the CVT models though as they do not have the best reputation for reliability.

Thank you Donavan,

I am leaning towards the Premacy. No concerns in relation to towing the camping trailer with the 2L and auto trans?

Regards,
Alwyn.
