Hi All

I Bought a car and had engine problems with 2 hrs of buying it. This was from a private sale and had WOT etc. Basically the engine overheated 60km from location of buying the car and I'm looking at a lengthy repair bill.

Is there anything in the law that would cover me with a issue like this?

There is always going to be risks involved with purchasing a used car privately or at an auction as there is no recourse on the seller for problems that may occur. Unfortunately you will need to pick up the repair costs.

However, if the seller has misrepresented the vehicle (in the advertisement) then you might have a case to go to the Motor Vehicles Disputes Tribunal
