Hi, i m about to buy a car which is 15 years old. But the cars has only 120000 kilometers. If I ask for a car history, I ll know the kilometers the car had at every WOF, but how can I know that an owner did not get the odometer lower just before a WOF check, so the car will be easier to resell. during a WOF check, the expert does not check if the odometer says the truth, does he ? And on the service history of the car, can I get any other informations on the kilometers ?

Thank you for your help.

Best regards

You can get JEVIC (0800 636638) to carry out a speedometer check to see whether the speedometer has been tampered with but there is no guarantee that it is 100% correct as other methods of manipulating the mileage could've been used.

The vehicle has travelled around 8000km a year which is likely for some lifestyles. You can ask for the service history and check the mileage to see whether it adds up.

You should take the condition of the vehicle into consideration too but if you suspect the mileage is incorrect then you should walk away from the sale.

An AA History report will have the mileage that was recorded at the WOF.
