Hi

We currently have a 1996 2L Caldina which we are looking at replacing with something mid 2000's, $10k - $12k.

The logical choice is another Caldina (we really like them), 1800cc, which are around $12k.

However, I have just noticed the Corolla wagons are a little cheaper.

Are they much of a muchness please? Pros/cons? Anything to look out for?

Thanks!

The Caldina is possibly slightly bigger with a little more room inside, but both are very good. With either of these, the 1.8 automatic is the way to go, as with the Caldina the 2.0 litre versions have the the D4 direct injected engine and the 1.5 Corolla has a CVT transmission, both of which are prone to problems.
The 1.8 litre Caldina and Corolla share the same running gear and 4 speed automatic transmission, and have very good reputations for reliability, therefore it really comes down to which one you prefer.
