Our second car is a Suzuki Jimny which we would like to replace with a slightly larger - engined car. (We want a car that we can put a towbar on for short trips with a trailer). We like the on/off 4wd aspect of the Jimny, and its fuel economy. We do not require a 4 door vehicle. What can you suggest?

I guess it comes down to budget and age of vehicle that might be within budget.
This sector of quite small SUV/Crossover type vehicles is having something of a resurgance in the new car sector, with recent launches of Ford Ecosport, Holden Trax, Peugeot 2008 etc, etc.
If you're looking at something a little older, the Toyota RAV4 (earlier models were available as a 3 door) and Suzuki Vitara/Escudo could perhaps fulfill your needs.
