Hi there, I'm looking to spend $8-$10k on a sedan vehicle and interested in the Nissan Teana 2.3 or Toyota Avensis 2.0. Are there any blaring concerns with either of these models I should be wary of. I like the roomy size of both these cars as we have teenage children who take up as much room as an adult really when we travel together as a family. Any other suggestions of car make/model to conisder would be appreciated.

These are both good cars, but the Nissan Teana probably has the edge over the Avensis due to the D4 engine in the evensis being prone to carbon build-up as they age.
However, the Teana is relatively thirsty, with a claimed fuel economy of 8.9L/100km, which is a couple of litres more than Toyota claims for the Avensis.
Mazda6 or Accord Euro could be worth a look too.

Thanks very much ! Do I need to wary about any CVT problems with any of these models...I'd be looking at 2005 or 2006 models I think

No, I've checked our database and these shouldn't have CVTs. I'm always cautious with import models though, as we've seen some oddball spec cars at times that have taken us by surprise!
