Could you please give me some advice and feedback re the Nissan Tiida?
Looking at the 1500 auto in the hatchback around 2005. Are they good, reliable what about the CCVT transmission is this something they have that I should look our for. Also is the CCVT as bad as people say? And how do I know if the car actually has it or not as you could be just told it doesn't have it when it does??
Is the Tiida something you would recommend? Just looking for a shopping basket really but not too small like yaris or vitz. Is there another vehicle you guys like better? Any help appreciated.

The Tiida is a good car if you can find one with the conventional 4 speed automatic transmission rather than the CVT (Constantly Variable Transmission). Almost all of the Japanese import Tiidas have CVT, but NZ new ones don't.
Others to consider might be Toyota Corolla, Mazda3/Axela, Honda Civic etc. But while most of these will have conventional automatic transmissions, some imports might have CVTs.
A CVT never feels like it is changing gear, and when you accelerate hard, the engine revs high, without road speed increasing at the same rate. Also, most of them don't have the 3,2,1 positions on the selector lever like most conventional autos do.

OK great, thanks for that. So with CVT is it something you definitely wouldn't recommend getting then? I have heard they have a lot of problems is that true?

Later model CVTs are fine but from the early/mid 2000s they could be problematic and very expensive to repair.
