I'm looking to replace my Suzuki Swift with something a similar size that has lighter steering. I have rheumatoid arthritis and find that driving this upsets my shoulders. Our other car is a VW Tiguan which has very light steering and is a delight to drive. Any suggestions?

You don't sat whether you are considering a new or used vehicle or what the price range might be, but if you are considering new I guess the obvious suggestion if you like the feel of the Volkswagen steering is to try a Volkswagen Polo. The size and price of a Polo is roughly similar to a Swift, and I think if you find the Tiguan steering to your liking, the Polo will be acceptable too.

Thanks - I had considered that, but we live in a small country town and have had to take the Tiguan to Hamilton for servicing which gets to be a nuisance. I may come back to it but thought I'd like to consider the alternatives first.

Other small cars you could consider would be the Mazda2, Toyota Yaris, Ford Fiesta, Hyundai i20. Basically, most manufacturers have small cars in this segment, but given that you find the Suzuki Swift steering a problem, I think the only way you'll know for sure is to try these cars yourself to see if they are suitable, as in our experience, the Swift doesn't have particularly heavy steering, but I can appreciate your situation.
