Back to my affordable SUV hunt, how would VW Tiguan & Jeep Cherokee pit with each other? I am also looking at BMW X1 option, but that is on the expensive side though & i have had previous opinions from experts here that X1 is really good, except for the rear seating space.
Diesel would be the natural choice with driving dynamics being key.

Appreciate if there can be inputs on these in terms of driving dynamics, affordability, handling- corners, reliability. I am looking at post 2011 and atleast 2000cc or above in capacity, good seating space(headroom/legspace) and good boot space for the class. It will do about 18K's per year.

(i have thought about outlander, santa fe and cx-5 but these doesn't really get me going, so won't be worrying about them..though cx-7 was something good but its heavy on fuel)

Appreciate your expert opinion. Thanks in advance!

As per Donavan's answer to your previous forum post on this subject, none of these would be a bad choice. I see you've added the Cherokee into the equation too. I agree that diesel would be the better option for an SUV.
In terms of the ones you've mentioned here;
VW Tiguan - very good driving dynamics, great DSG transmission and high brand equity with Volkswagen.
Jeep Cherokee - Spacious, but unless you're looking at very late models (late 2014 on), you're looking at the old model which I don't believe was available in diesel. The petrol is very thirsty.
BMW X1 - Like the Tiguan, great driving dynamics and probably more car-like than an SUV. However, as you say, rear seating is somewhat compromised.

That greatly helps, thanks.
For Tiguan models from 2011 onwards, are there specific ones that should be avoided( TDI, TSI etc..) or any ones that should be really considered.

None really to be avoided, but the TDI (diesel) has much more torque than the TSI (petrol), so if you plan to do any towing, the TDI would be the way to go.
