Hi there,

Had Mazda released a diesel version of CX-7 anytime, just wondering if there was one apart from the petrol ones they had. I read 2012 was the last year of production for CX-7, unsure if its correct.
Was the 2012 version any better in terms of fuel economics compared to its earlier year models? how much is the expected economy for a petrol & diesel versions?
In my quest for an SUV, CX-7 is the one that looks good, is not too heavy on purse as a buy and read that it drives well apart also. I had a BMW X1 looked at the other day & the seating position doesn't seem quite as high for an SUV, comparatively less than CX-7 i guess.
Is there anything , apart from fuel economy, that CX-7 should be avoided for, in terms of seating space, boot capacity, driving dynamics.

Appreciate your reply.

Unfortunately Mazda never did a CX-7 diesel, which is a shame as the petrol ones are known to be thirsty.

Thanks for the reply.
Sorry for re-posting, appreciate if you can give your views on second portion of my query please "Is there anything , apart from fuel economy, that CX-7 should be avoided for, in terms of seating space, boot capacity, driving dynamics. "

No, there's no issue with the CX-7 apart from it being thirsty. Having said that, in answer to your question about driving dynamics, the 2WD CX-7 suffers from torque steer and feels a little unstable when pushed hard, so while fuel economy may be marginally better on the 2WD, the AWD is the better driving vehicle.

Thanks, is FWD same as AWD?
The 2WD states less fuel use with about 10l/100KM and the 4WD states about 12l/100KM.

No, FWD (Front Wheel Drive) is 2WD. AWD (All Wheel Drive) is 4WD.

Thanks much.
Quick one, Which will depreciate faster among the below two in next 03 years time:-

- 2011 Mazda CX-7 2.5 ; 51000KM
- 2011 BMW X1 Xdrive 2.0d ; 47000KM

& which should be preferred/better in Mazda CX-7 - tiptronic transmission or Auto transmission?

Sorry, but the future's hard to see! Personally, I'd say a 2.0d X1 would be the better car to own, drive and re-fuel, but whether or not it's big enough and will suit your needs, only you can decide.
