I did a vehicle history check with AA and it turns out the car I wants to purchase was first registered in NZ by a rental company. It then had 10K done within a year and then was deregistered. It was then re registered under the current owner and only done 200kms in the last 900 months. Should I be worried? Or are there genuine reasons for a car to get re registered? What about the really low millage? Can you please advise?

Hi there,
This sounds a bit like the car may have been de registered as a right-off. And repaired a while later and put back on the road.
Sounds a little dodgy to me and I would steer clear of buying this car.

Hi thanks for your response.

I have further inquired from NZTA and found out the reason for de registering was.
They have ticked "Destroyed/Deemed useless" option in the form according to NZTA
